Toshiba Regza 42RV635DB reviewWith treats like like the JournE Touch and NB200, it's easy to forget that Toshiba's hottest skill is churning out eyeball-friendly HD tellies. And the Toshiba Regza 42RV635DB is no exception to the usual standard expected from the gadget giant. But ...

Toshiba 42RV635DBToshiba Regza 42RV635DB is a 42-inch Full HD LCD TV with 50,000:1 contrast ratio, AutoView, Resolution+ to improve standard definition signals, four HDMI inputs and a host of power-saving features.

Without getting all nostalgic for bunny-ear aerials and tuning TVs with screwdrivers, it's good to find a set with an honest to goodness power switch in these virtualised times. This Regza's visuals are bang up to date, mind, thanks to various auto ... Contra:If a TV sports a feature called AutoView, I want it to autonomously watch and report back on global warming documentaries, summarise boring footie matches and tell me what Lost is actually about, not merely adjust its brightness depending on ambient ... Conclusion:Marketing nonsense aside, Toshiba has carved out a nice little niche for itself with this well-priced LCD. Solid video performance and expansive stereo sound more than make up for the disappointment of having to actually watch TV yourself. |

Toshiba isn't one to hold a grudge. With no less than four HDMI inputs on the board, this Regza positively welcomes Blu-ray players to its audio-visual party, spewing 1080p footage into your living room with an infectious energy. It's just the right ... Contra:Strictly speaking, you don't really need full 1080p playback on a TV just 32 inches in size, even if you sit right next to the screen like your mum used to scold you for. Also, 100Hz scanning would have helped with occasionally jittery action sequences Conclusion:A solid, well-made television for smaller rooms or gaming, the 32RV635DB is match for Sony's and Panasonic's image quality – as well as for Samsung's and LG's price point. Worth checking out. |

Toshiba 42RV635The home for all this step-up technology is passably attractive thanks to the slenderness and extreme glossiness of its bezel. And there are plenty of connections to keep us smiling too, including four HDMIs and a USB port for JPEG playback.

Terrific standard definition pictures, great value, decent feature count for its money Contra:HD pictures not the sharpest, really limited viewing angle, picture not very bright when calibrated to look its best |
